Buying RR1, KV2 or ESP DV-8

Hello All,

Im new to this site & do not as of yet own a Jackson. Im after a bit of info re the above potential purchase. Im in the position of buying a flying V & was wondering what peoples general opinions were to the best guitar. Im looking at a:

second hand RR1 from the uk at around £950, importing a new RR1 from the US for around £1100

second hand immaculate custom KV1 for £1200

or a ESP DV8 at £1500

The reason im including the DV8 is i used to own the cheap LTD version which was great value & had immense sustain.

You can't go wrong with an RR1 or KV1. KV1s are much harder to find since they don't make them anymore. I would say in this order:

KV1
RR1 new
RR1 used
ESP DV8 (i heard this was a good guitar, just don't dig the finishes offered in this guitar)

Of the three, I would have chosen the RR1. It has a fuller sound and I like the the compound radius and the Floyd Rose. I also think it looks more badass than both the DV8 and the KV1.
You might miss the 24th fret, but the missing two frets on the RR1 gives room for the neck PU, which again makes the sound rounder in the neck position.
A friend of mine bought a 24 fret Ibanez (J-Custom) with all original DiMarzios (AirNorton (N) Blue Velvet (M) and ToneZone (B).
We got the guitars (I got the RR1) at the same time. We tested the guitars and compared them to each others. He envyed my the sound.

This is a Jackson forum...you won't get much recommendation on the DV-8. It is a great guitar in my opinion. Discontinued also as well.

Why do you have the Carvin V220 in there? It's not a V. I think you meant the Ultra V.

KV 1 with Gold Hardware? Are you sure it's not a KV pro? Sounds like a Burst KV pro to me. Killer guitar...

I agree Brooke. I've never seen a KV1 in red before, and never with gold hardware. Monkey, does it have a Kahler, or a Floyd? Does it have bound neck and headstock? Does it have the DM signature on the headstock?

Oops, yeah, Ultra V.

They had two of those, actually, and two of the 220s - the V-220 which had rounded points, and the X220 with pointy points.
What was the other Ultra V?
