No, what Brooke said, they are routed and then glued in. The edges are filled in with a black resin of some sort to fill the gaps.
You guys see there's some guy on ebay selling die-cut vinyl Sharkfins that you can stick onto your fretboard? He has a bunch of different designs. These would be cool to use on a JS series that was a player or practice axe.'Howling in shadows
