I once received a guitar (cheap Grass Roots Explorer) without case and box... it was just packed with alot of layers of bubble wrap and shipped via Hermes!
No damage though.

And my Soloist Archtop Pro came delivered by DHL without a case in an almost rectangle box that was much too big for it, with just some bubble wrap around the headstock. It could move freely in there!
I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that, then quickly unwrapped the headstock and was overjoyed to see that it was unscarred.

But what the hell were those sellers thinking!?

BTW both my JacksonStars guitars which I received from Japan had a sticker on it stating that the package had been opened in customs. Which was again reason for near heart attacks until I opened the packages and found the guitars unharmed.

I guess I was very lucky so far... *knocks on wood*

I had a very similar experience when I ordered a Dominion last year:

It came in a box like this (without a hardshell case):


and ended up with this:



I got it replaced no problem so it wasn't a big deal, but it fucking sucked opening up a guitar I was excited for and finding the neck cracked.
