  • Questions about US Dinky

Im looking at a used Dinky at my local GC. Its in mint shape, Eerie Dess. Its missing the switch tip tho and no case. They want 1099. That a fair price? Are the tips hard to get? Did they come with cases from the factory or is case optional?? What EMGs are in it? And, is the neck Compound radius??
I dont know the year, but its only a couple yrs old.

    Thanks!!!

Without the switch tip? I would try and talk them down to about $600.

Is it a USA? If it's not H/H then the EMGs are going to be aftermarket, so who knows what model they are? If it's a USA guitar, then yeah, it came with a case from the factory.
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Yes, its USA. They said the owner didnt trade in the case.. I figured it had one.. its really in pristine shape. no issues that I can find except the switch tip. no grooves on the frets..

Should be EMG 81 and 85 stock. If theres no batter compartment on the back of the guitar the body could be Japanese or the EMGs arent stock.

Yea if its a US it will have the 81/85 combo and 1099 is a good price for a mint cond. DK1. It should come with a case but thats not the end of the world and the eerie dess swirl is also a graphic finish which is more money ... if it was me i would pick it up.

thanks! Yeah, battery compartment on the back. Its all factory..
I know the erie dess adds a couple hundy to the price... And, to be accurate, its marked at 1099, but I can get it for 10% off. So under grand. Im looking at about $1050 after tax..

That link hurt! But I dont care for that finish...

thats just one of those ebay gem's that happens every so often. not indicative of the true street price for that guitar.

Aha, a man that went to the same school of haggling as I did! Offer $500 if it isn't in tune.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

I don't know guys, I think that's a pretty reasonable price. No switch tip? No big deal, they're easy enough to get for a couple bucks. No case? See what they're willing to throw in if you pay the asking price. When I got a NOS USA Dinky Reverse several years back, they had conveniently "sold" the case, but threw in a pretty decent Kaces gig bag and strap. Same when I bought a NOS USA RR2 half-price on clearance.

this isnt NOS tho.. Its used. GC here wont budge on anything. I asked if they'd throw in a case and they laughed and said we'll make you a deal on one and offered me normal price.

Example of how they are.. They have a few Gibson Robots in house. One of the SGs has a gnarly chip out of one of the points.. Guy asked if they would take off for the chip.. they said it is already marked down because of it.. It was marked $1399, the same as the other 5 right beside it...

I think its a good price, but Im gonna pass. I had the money set aside for a modded JCM800 Im dealing with a guy on. And the guitar was nice, but I didnt feel the mojo with it that I feel when I play my 80s Charvel 4 or my Kramer Baretta. So, I have the floyd bolt on covered..

There was a really clean "green ghost flame" SL2H with a case that didn't even get one bid for $1,000. "clicky" Right now it is a buyers market
