Public service announcement for CS orders with EMGs

I wanted to point this out there and I may get flamed for this but its important to know.

I cringe when I see a really nice Jackson with fine wood get routed for a additional battery box.

Some people are going to disagree but I say less wood equals less tone...

...but lets say you are still lazy and dread the prospect of twice a year having to replace your 9 volt battery since it does require heavy machinery and all. I know it took me two years to get my philips screwdriver operators permit and then spring for the liability insurabce. Not all of us can be as gifted as me so here is the new solution.

They now make a control cavity cover with a built in battery box that pops out. So there is no need to route out that wood anymore. Here is photographic proof of this nifty cover.

Dont do it for me do it for your custom. Especially if you are getting a soloist they route out plenty of wood in those things for the control cavity already.

I have to agree. I want the least amount of wood removed as possible.

I saw that frets on the net have them. Or if you are really crafty, you can buy the battery box, and cut a hole in your cavity cover and do it yourself.

But yeah, I dont really care for the battery box in the body. Double boxes are almost 3 times as bad.

Well, I doubt the custom shop would like to do a different route for the cavity cover pictured. But maybe Budman could become a supplier for the custom shop, and build them a supply of some with the Ontario route like on his webpage.

ESP should be made aware of this as well.

It's to the point where I plan on ordering my guitars with passive pickups and put EMG's in later if I want them. "No Battery Box" is too hard for some people to comprehend.

Wow, you'd think it would be the opposite, cause it's easier not to put one on...
I hear ya about the passive thing man, cause that would piss me of to no end.

Damn! I hate battery boxes, too. I think I could fit 18v in my Mark Morton model if I ever decide to go EMGs. A pair of 89s would work well with the coil tap switches already in there.

That's why you ditch the controls and keep the volume pot only.

Yup. That's exactly what happened. I asked for "No Battery box" and here's what I got...



Still a nice guitar, but quite annoying when they do shit you specifically asked them NOT to.

But you don't need to change the battery for at least a year. And you have a tech to take care of that for you anyway!

Not the point of collecting. The point is less wood less tone and you can have a battery box put into the control cavity instead of routing the wood. Unless you are are using something like a PC1 mentioned above where the electronics take up the whole entire cavity.
