I wanted to point this out there and I may get flamed for this but its important to know.
I cringe when I see a really nice Jackson with fine wood get routed for a additional battery box.
Some people are going to disagree but I say less wood equals less tone...
...but lets say you are still lazy and dread the prospect of twice a year having to replace your 9 volt battery since it does require heavy machinery and all. I know it took me two years to get my philips screwdriver operators permit and then spring for the liability insurabce. Not all of us can be as gifted as me so here is the new solution.
They now make a control cavity cover with a built in battery box that pops out. So there is no need to route out that wood anymore. Here is photographic proof of this nifty cover.
Dont do it for me do it for your custom. Especially if you are getting a soloist they route out plenty of wood in those things for the control cavity already.
