Sadly no. I went through every connection with my Fluke multimeter to see if there was any cold solder joints and found none. Funny thing is that the LED lite up when batteries were installed for a split second but did not light up with a jack installed.

I suppose that I could swap the board from my other two knob PC1 to see if its the board that is the culprit but what would that change in terms of real problem solving.

I'm gonna call my local Jackson repair shop and see what if any suggestions they might have for me.

Cross your fingers that (eventually) this unit works as it should because that is too sweet a PC1 to not have a functioning sustainer unit no?

BTW Did anyone ever successfully return a PC1 to Jackson for repairs? I know damm well that they will not sell (nor probably even install for you) a sustainer and or board if one is missing.

But what about just the fact that the one intact is DOA?

You know I bet if you sent them the Sustainer they could fix it or possibly replace it for you. I understand them not handing over Sustainers to whoever asks for one but if you were to present them with a non functional model they should be willing an dable to help.

Question is do we know if any forum members that have had non warranty work performed on their PC1's?

BTW I just finished setting up the Chlorine and boy does it feel sweet!

Funny how there are subtle differences between all three of my PC1's.

I've had wood work done one a poorly installed OFR on a PC1, but the electronics only have a 1 year warranty.
I've never heard of them replacing one outside the warranty period. But it's worth a shot asking.

Don't get me wrong. I doubt that it would ever be performed for free but do they totally refuse to work on older (out of warranty) PC1's with electronic issues?

I just can't see a company like Jackson saying I'm out of luck in regards to what was a originally a 2K guitar.

Take it to an authorized repair center and see what they say.
Just hope they don't charge you the CS price for the board if they do it.
Last quote I got on a Jackson sustainer was close to $900.
Now that was for a complete system in a CS guitar.
I would suspect they might charge you in the neighborhood of $300 to $400 just for the board if they do it.

Are the necks dramatically different? Between my 2 there is a huge difference. My 01 is much bigger than my 98. It still plays awesome, so I'm not complaining, it's just not what I was expecting. I'm sorry to hear that the sustainer isn't working, but I think you still got a really good buy on a special guitar. We could post pictures of a 1000 PC1's on here and that top would still stand out as one of the best ones. Have you decided yet to leave me that guitar when you die? If yes, does anyony know where i can hire a hitman? LOL Just kidding!I'm just happy to see that guitar in the hands of a pc lover. The dude you bought it from doesn't deserve it!

I also found the older PC1s had a slimmer neck than the Strat head PC1s. I actually prefer the slimmer neck. Just feels better in my hands. But I wouldn't throw a Strat head out of the house if you get my meaning. Any PC1 is a good PC1. And the PC3 neck was even slimmer.

Thought I'd chime in. I have 4 PC1's(all stratheads) and a PC3 Au Nat with a PC1 strathead neck. I don't mind the Sears headstock but the strathead looks much better in my opinion. These are beautiful looking and more importantly playing guitars. By far my favorite guitar made period! Pics aren't the best but you get the idea.
