2002 SL1: Built Pre or Post Fender Buyout?

So, thanks to eBay and a bass player with a nonexistant eBay track record, I have this 2002 Soloist SL1 with a UO 9XXXX serial number (I'm at work now, so I don't have it on me) and I want to know if was built in Ontario before the buyout.

I guess it was probably sold after the buyout, but I want to know if/that it was built by Jackson hands. I hope it was, but I just don't know.

Of course, I've gone to the Jackson Product Dating page, but it only goes up to UO89XX. I wish it would say the first serial number released from Corona.

I am hoping that if it was built in 2002, it was built before the shop was moved to Corona.

why? it doesn't matter. i have plenty of both and there is no difference. jackson's are built by jackson, regardless of where the US "factory" is located.

yup. "Post Fender" Jacksons may be made in a different location, but still by the same guys that were building the Pre Fender ones.

Of course, any ebay seller can tell you that the Pre Fender ones have more mojo. If you own a Post Fender Jackson, you'll have to get your mojo aftermarket

I know...I just would prefer to believe that the guitar is part of pureblood Jackson heritage and not Fender-Jackson heritage. It's a heritage thing, man. I think we're all familiar with the sort of unspoken (ok, sometimes NOT so unspoken) fine line that was crossed in Fall of 2002.

At any rate, it's a great axe. But of course, you're right, as far as playability goes, it doesn't really matter.

I think if you are going to feel that way,then the line should be drawn from the AMIC purchase.
Fender has actually been good to the company so far.

It might matter 20 yrs from now as far as resale value goes, but why worry about that now?

Since Jackson hasn't been a completey independent company since 1986, I don't see why the location of the factory would make a difference.

Corporate takeovers can matter in some cases, but in this case the same people were kept on to build the USA Jacksons, AFAIK. So there would be no discernible difference in the guitars. As far as resale value goes, I doubt it will have any impact--it's unlikely that post-San Dimas J/C's will ever be collectables, apart from a one-off here and there.

If it's a nice guitar, I say enjoy it for what it is and don't get caught up in the "Pre-Fender" nuttiness.

Yeah, see, this is the core of what I appreciate about Jackson. The same 6 or 7 (exact numbers, I don't know them) dudes have been in the shop for decades. Awesome. There aren't a lot of companies that can say that, music industry or otherwise.

It doesn't make any difference, however to help answer your question I say if it was indeed built oin 2002 then it is definetly an Ontario built guitar. In January 2003 while out at the NAMM show, I as well as a few other JCFers went on a tour of the Jackson/Charvel factory and it was still in Ontario.

from what I have been informed, and please correct me if this is not true:

Pre fender jacksons were all made by the same people, custom shop or not.

after the fender by out, only custom shop models are made by the original people, i.e. Pablo for example.

fender did bring back the likes of Mr Shannon, but does Shannon produce non custom shop Jackson guitars?
