I need advise!!

A while ago I sent in a qoute for a custom shop to Matt at Matt's music. And now I have recieved the work order, but I suddenly felt uneasy about a detail. First let me give you the specs:

SL2H with a matching headstock & gold hardware.
Binding around the neck only. Colour: White
PC1 pickups and knobs

And here's the thing:

I have an ebony fretboard and the colour of the guitar is Snow White. Will it be strange with the binding?

No issues. Plenty of white Model 6's that look fine with white binding.

I totally agree. I've been oggling this Model 6 and think the white, light-coloured neck binding and ebony (well, it's rosewood, but the darker the better) go great together:

What about headstock binding?

White binding on a white headstock is redundant and invisible, like black binding on ebony.

However, ivoroid would stand out against the white.

But, since it's a Custom Shop, you do not want to pay all that extra just for a matching headstock and a pickup swap


So get the white binding on the ebony board. It will tie the head and body together nicely in terms of contrast and composition.


BTW, are you getting the Sustainer in a humbucker or with another single coild jammed against it to make it look like a humbucker?

It will be basicly a SL2H with PC1 pimped up with Matching headstock and gold hardware.

So the pick-ups are:

Neck: Jackson Sustainer
Middle: DiMarzio HS2
Bridge: Super 3

I had PC1, and I loved the set up with the sustainer, but I didn't like the neck and I don't want the fender headstock either. I've gotten fender up my throat!! Can't someone set JCMI free from them?

Considering the headstock will be white and so is the binding, it will probably not show.

The guitar is white, the fretboard black (ebony), and the headstock white.

I would have gone with chrome hardware myself, but that thing looks great. I love the idea of a PC1 with a neck thru. I am not a huge fan of the PC1 neck profile either.

It would look awesome with chrome, but I think this is classy too.
I have a not-so-secret fetish for gold hardware. Don't tell anyone!!

I have another option though, but won't be that custom:
I go for black, I get automaticly a matching headstock and I do binding around the neck and headstock like this:



The thing is: I could order a SL2H in black, change the hardware and I'll have "both" styles. Or shoud I just go with this? This is the original idea. I got it from this guitar (of this forum)...:

I loved them both so I took the ideas and slammed them together...
