I got my 1987 Jackson Strat out of the shop today. The conversion of the JT6 nut / stringlock to OFR locking nut is complete. It blends in nicely and looks great! A single piece of ebony was used to build the platform, which is glued down. The nut is an R3 (I like the tighter spacing), and is glued to the platform. The screw locations on the nut are unfortunately above the wide truss rod cavity. I spec'ed out an arch to be cut to provide clearance for a crack pipe wrench...it worked out great! A full size truss rod cover from Budman will cover everything, too.

Here's the back of the neck. This is two coats of Tru oil, and scrubbing with 0000 steel wool. It's taken on a nice lustery shine, yet is nice and slippery smooth to the palm of the hand.

Big block anyone? The original owner put a floyd on with a 37 mm block. Everything seemed to line up nicely, so I went with a 37 mm brass big block. The sustain...listen to it...

So I'm almost done. She is all back together, and I have gone over every square inch of this thing. What a beauty! The nut needs some work though...the string height is too high, and the glue has already failed. Argh!
