My 98 KV1 is natural korina. I've never had any problems with the LSR's.
They're a bit more tricky than ordinary tuners but once you've how to do them, you'll be fine.
I did pull out the bezel once and didn't notice any change. I feel with this sort of bridge the guitar doesn't resonate as it should be. And the bass sounds a bit hollow. My floyded guitars bass are deeper.
