Toe - IIRC, the Y2s did have the same profile as the KV. I can't recall the profile on the import Y2 - there've been so many necks through here - but I'm pretty sure someone else said it was the same as their KV1 Mustaine.
Then again, that may have been Vince who said itI want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Is it pretty lightweight? The Y2KV feels like a freakin' ton of bricks. It plays pretty fast and has a good tone, but I'm also interested in the sound of the VMNT and the newer Mustaine pickups. I dunno, could you just give me a few general impressions?
For what it's worth, I'm leaning toward keeping my Y2KV now, but I'm still looking into other guitars for the hell of it.

I don't know much about the Dean Mustaine guitars. Never been interested in the brand. From what I have heard though from people who do own them is that they're the equivalent of the high end ESP LTD guitars.
Biggest gripes I have heard is that they're super light and feel like a toy, the fretboards aren't real Ebony, and a lot of them seem to have wiring issues (that however is easily fixable).
I don't know anyone who actually owns one of the USA Dean VMNT's which are exactly like the ones Mustaine plays.
IMO, don't sell your Y2KV for the Angel of Deth VMNT. You'll regret it down the road. It's a big step down from what you've got. If you want to try the Mustaine pickups throw 'em in your Y2KV. And if you really wanna get a reaction... have the Angel of Deth theme painted on your Y2KV and post it over on the boards :ROTF:

PhantomLord- Chill. Play your Y2KV, the sound is in your head, hands and heart. Lay down your axe and just look at it- looks awesome, way better than some fugly ass Dean. Strap it on and check your bad self out in a mirror- you look like dude on a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. That other guitar will make you look like some dude on a Vespa. See that name on top- Jackson- that's the real deal man, made in USA. It will always be worth bucks and if you do get rid of it , it will always bug you because that Dean will be long gone. Keep the Y2KV, it is like money in the bank.

Long story, but Brian may know, if he is indeed who I think he is – Morphine from Deth.com?).

Not that it's a huge issue, but I'd probably rather have my USA made Y2KV...

Anyway, my VMNT1 weighs about 7 or 8 pounds.
And BTW, I'm not really a big fan of super low action, but this guitar has it pretty low with very minimal buzz!I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Typically striped ebony is macassar ebony, but that's not what Dean is using on those models. Most of the ones I have seen up close pics of look like this:
It looks smooth like ebony, but the coloring looks like it was stained. It also appears a lot more porous than most ebony boards. It's very similar to what they used on the LTD 30th Anniversary guitars.
Though, I am pretty sure they're not using the same grade woods on the $800 dollar models as they are the $4000 dollar ones.

The first pic does seem to have a lot of pores more like rosewood. Mine is pretty smooth and is not very porous. There are indeed lower grades of ebony. http://www.exoticwood.biz/ebony.htmI feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
