I have a few San Dimas Jacksons with hand painted logos...without "Made In USA". I have also seen a few SDJ's with standard logos without the "Made In USA".

Great answers so far. It is true that in 1989 especially, the "Made in USA" was sometimes left off. Also, many of the Archtop Soloists with mop logoes didn't have it either.
"Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."
My custom shop 007 Soloist does says Made In USA but does not have Custom Shop on it. Also, even some more recent guitars don't say Made In USA on them including my cracked mirror Rhoads.
Why would you NOT want the Custom Shop logo? I got it on the WarAngel. I specifically requested it just in case, because at that time it was "sometimes they do it automatically, sometimes they don't", so I played it safe.

I've said this before, but since it's being discussed, here are my two cents:
I think Jackson NEEDS a custom shop logo. If I were getting a JCS, I would want it clearly identified as such, but not in the lame way they generally do it.
The script font they use, and putting it on two lines like they do looks very sloppy and amateurish to me. Fender has a nice Custom Shop logo, IMO. Jackson needs one, too. I think they should do a woodburn of Jackson Custom Shop on the back of the headstock. Nicer than a decal, tougher to duplicate, and hearkens back to a part of its history.
