...and don't forget to eat your greens. Apologies for background, just been playing on the old Rhoads and took it outside for a moment.

Sweet. Love the old Floyds without fine-tuners.

          Awesome-looking Rhoads.

Is that an old non-fine-tuner Floyd? Don't think I've ever seen one in black. Only chrome.

These Floyds are not the same as the German made non fine tuning Kramer ones, every part is different. They were made in Japan under a deal with Fernandes and these black ones seem to be made of unobtainium! Vinnie Vincent either had a stash of them or transferred the same one between guitars.

The non fine tuning bridge suits the Rhoads better, as the whale tail gets in the way of the bridge pickup volume. Plus there are no moving parts, it's al locked down via the intonation screw plus the nut on the locking bolt which bears down on the rear of the baseplate AND the block is bigger than usual, so to my ears the tone is more rounded than the later bridges.

Pretty awesome. I have one of those Floyds on a Charvel and on my version the bar is bolted to the baseplate requiring quite a bit of work to detach it. Is yours like that, as well?

I've never seen a black one of this type. Is it powder coated or plated?
