I ordered a nice Jackson molded case from Sam Ash that fits a Soloist perfectly, for about $90.

The thing about most of those "universal" cases is they don't account for the headstock angle and the tip ends up bearing the majority of the weight. That's fine if you're super careful and just carting the guitar around town, but it's not going to survive a surprise trip down a flight of stairs or anything.

I picked up a used Mint All Tube Ampeg SVT 2 Pro which normally sells for $1899 for $399. They sell used on ebay for $1000+ all day long.
      Damn, I love this Interweb.

        That's a killer deal!

The roadrunner molded case even had room for the tilted headstock. However I think I'm gonna ago ahead and get the Jackson case anyway.

Keep the price a secret unless you want to hear someone crying about "profiteering" and "bro deals" when/if you sell it

Whilst they are twats for not knowing their business, over here a DK1 goes for about the same price as a Soloist. Is it not so in the states?

Also, when I hear about the availability and prices of used USA Jacksons over there it makes me want to vomit... and possibly emigrate.

Congrats on the guitar by the way. Its a beauty.
What kind of Paintjob are you getting?

Yeah, I don't find that DK1's are all that cheap. Sometimes, they sell for more than a Soloist, because they're harder to find! I mean, it's hard not to fall all over the typical colors of Soloists (black, blue ghost flames, EDS) on Ebay week after week, but just try to find a "graphic" finish DK1, they're not too common.

Also some people really like bolt-ons, but I think in the case of the DK1 most of the "positives" are negated.

                    I know. Isn't that crazy?

Not that I'm worried about the color. As soon as I get it sounding the way I want it's off to Dan Lawrence for a refin.

What do you recommend in the neck position for a bluesy Strat tone?
