Jackson made plenty of entry level 7 strings before the Fender buyout, but the pickups SUCKED!!!!!! If you search for a DR7 you should be able to find both string thru and Lic Floyd versions fairly easy.....with a little more searching you might find 7 string Rhoads and Kellys too, but I don't remember seeing any with string thru.

From what I remember of the build quality, they were pretty good as long as you swap out the electronics for the stuf that comes with the new pickups.

What they need to do is offer a real USA 7.

By the way, here is the photo of the prototype. Looks like it has a headstock from the Concert Bass

This one - tested by one lucky guy - is really ok.
The binding on the headstock and where the logo is placed, would help not to make the sl7's head look too huge.
If they are to release new jap series 7 stringers, they might as well do it right this time.

Nick sure knows how to spec out a guitar.

I think the perspective on the green one makes the headstock seem bigger than it is as well. I mean it's almost the same size as the body area-wise.

Am I the only one who thinks that proto-pic looks like it is photoshopped?

Wrong.....Its actually the jackson endorsed guitarist for the "yeah yeah yeahs" he named it arctopus in tribute to the band.

I hear they have added binding to the equation. I tried preordering one, but the jackson/fender rep had no knowledge of it, nor could he dig up a production number.

I believe that you will see multiple jackson 7s at namm, but only one production model.

It will prolly be a new base model so there should be color options.

the projected street price should be around $1200

If they are brought into production I dont think we will be able to get our hands on any of them until march or april, unless they already have them built.

I'm really looking forward to Corey's signature 7 string guitar. When I first saw it, I thought it looked absolutely amazing. I've been thinking about ordering a custom 7 string Dean, but if Corey's signature doesn't cost an arm and leg then I'll definitely be buying that.

But a 7 string RR would look crazy. Someone should photoshop a picture or something.
