A 7 string soloist is a dream come true for many if us 7 stringers
        but with rosewood and EMG's???
        WTF?
A bound ebony board and passives would've gone a long way
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

7 string USA Soloist would have been on my list to get asap. But, I'll pass on the rosewood board and huge headstock.

although I was rather disappointed at first, I have to admint that on youtube that SLAT 3-7 looks a whole lot more appealing than I gave it credit for! curious to see it myself!

They fixed the logo which shrinks the headstock some. Lovin' the arch too

I also like the look of the archtop. On the 7s, binding might help to make the headstocks look smaller. I was noticing that binding had that effect on headstocks on another brand recently, so it might be worth a try.

Yep. REALLY looking forward to a quality 7 seven offering from Jackson, but this is not it.

Well, I think a big part of it is the economy right now. With everyone pretty strapped for cash I think most companies are playing it pretty safe. Super strats are a pretty safe bet to sell reasonably well. The 7 string version is probably the "riskiest" thing Jackson put out this year, but there's been a resurgance of sponsored guitarists with 7 strings, so they figure there's a demand for it.

The other thing is JAckson's pointy guitars have all been around for awhile, and I think they're a bit reluctant to come out with new ones (or even production models of some more well known models). Or even re-releases/expansion of some current models. Like I'd love to see an MIJ non-EMGhz Warrior. A re-release of the KV3 with 24 frets would also be awesome. I suspect after the rather lackluster sales of the KV3 and models like the Kelly Star, JAckson will probably stick to its bread and butter models, with only minor changes for awhile, especially while the economy sucks.

When money is short, companies in every industry play it safe. As for the Pablo Santana models...Eh. I'm not a huge fan of them. They seem just a little bit too forced in terms of design. It's like the guy sat down and was like "I NEED another pointy edge, but where can I place it...HERE!! Sure, that works." They just look a bit tacky to me.
