And mainly wondering if it is because it's cheaper for them to do rosewood boards. Anyone actually know?
As for the RR24M, I think the demise wasn't for lack of interest, but it was the crazy high price they charged. I bought 1 at the clearance price of $494.95 and to be honest THAT should have been the MAP price all along. I see no difference between it and a DK2M functionality weise or hardware wise for there to be that vast a price difference. The set neck versus bolt on shouldn't warrant $400-$500 difference I'm sorry. To me this was Jackson,,, er I mean Fender's greed puttingthe price out of the hands of the very people that were asking for these guitars 4-5 years ago. I was one of those voices back then and I own one now. I am sad they discontinued this model as it is awesome. Would I have bought it for $1000, definitely not.

Also I never understood with unorthodox naming / numbering schemes companies come up with, so I'm not targeting Jackson, but they have a guitar with 24 frets but they name it a JS22? Why even have 22 in the name? It's confusing and it is pointless as there is no rhyme or reason why they chose 22 specifically. I can see Ibanez how they have numbered guitars from say the Roadstar / RG series since the 80s. 410=1 bridge humbucker 420=2 humbuckers 430=3 single coils 440= 1 bridge humbucker and 2 single coils etc. They pretty much stuck with the 2nd digit referring to pickup configuration till up to this day.

If I were 13 and begging my parents for my first guitar, I'd think some of those models were pretty cool looking and cheap.
Maybe some of that group is targeted at attracting first time Jackson owners?Jackson KV2
Jackson KE1T
Jackson KE1F
Jackson SL1

And the part that really pisses me off is that if I decided to actually order a custom shop, I expect it would take a solid 18 months to get it. I ordered a PRS Private Stock and got it in 4 months. I'm sorry but Jackson guitars production cannot be that busy.
It's just my opinion but it appears that they have been mismanaged for several years and are just holding on for dear life. A few years ago I thought they had a chance to really make a strong comback but I think that ship has sailed."You have a pud..your wife has a face. Next time she bitches..I'd play cock bongos on her cheeks..all four of them!" - Bill Z.

+1 sadly. The brand appears to be in a death spiral. I was hoping that if Jackson would pull back from the lower end stuff (less than 1K) then it could buy some time to recapture some cache'. I think the southeast asian production runs have convinced too many that it's a Dean with different shapes and logos. A "GC" house brand if you will.
To me, a person wants a Ferrari, or a Lambo, or 911 turbo because they're great, but even more because of the value (real or perceived). OR as a status symbol real or otherwise. When you continually produce "bargain basement" runs it doesn't help the brand capture and keep. It lowers the desirability of the overall brand.
As we played our (name early 80's brand here) we said "one day I'll have a Jackson, out friends laughed and said "sure". No one laughs any more because, hell, everyone has 3 of them-at least it says so on the headstock. Jackson needs to grab guitar players by the nads and demand their attention. Can't see it happening. As for saving it for NAMM...whatever. I'd suggest that if you got it you'd better flaunt it.
Jackson needs to be one of the "best", not one of the "many". IMHO.Why the hell doesn't Eddie pick up a goddamned guitar and play something?
Current Junk:

this is true, all of us over there were hoping for more of a "real" jackson 7, not just another import with the same specs every other company has but with a jackson logo on the headstock.
I would rather pay $2,000.00 for a USA SL2H-7 thtn $1,300.0 for an import that says jackson on the HS (at least the Jackson Stars have specs closer to the USA models thatn these do)If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

What's with the elitisism?
The US is close to bankrupty, massive lay-offs all over the place, and you guys want 2k guitars?
Ferrari? Owned by Fiat
Lamborgini? Owned by Volkswagen
the only reason these 'thoroughbreds' still exist, is because they are getting funded from the lower end sales"There's nothing taking away from the pure masculinity I possess"

As for 2k guitars, I don't care anything about that, but I would like to see something interesting. Something that lives up to the brand name.
Personally, I agree with the fact that the lower end Jacksons have hurt the credibility of the brand, The mid line is a little better, but there is a definate history of quality issues, and not alot of choices. and yes, there is the economy to think about as well, which lends to question why USA models like the PC1 are still over 2k which is IMHO ridiculous for a bolt on. Hell, even Gibson has dropped the price on alot of their precious Les Paul models.Last edited by Robert Hendrix; 01-10-2010, 01:39 PM.Prosecutors will be violated...

i don't know what you mean by elitism?
people want what they want, if you have to save a little longer for it so be it.
europeans have this attitude like americans think they are elite or this kind of bullshit - no - just some of us (used to be most) feels that we deserve the right to work for what we want and be able to have it.
I don't give a shit what the rest of the world thinks or how the economy is, if i want something i will find a way to get it.
and that IS the right attitude - you have 1 life - don't take NO for an answer and don't do something or hamper you drive for anyone else who thinks it's unfair, frivilous or petty - fuck em, and you should have that attitude as well.
if it's not what you want then it's a waste of money weather it's 600 dollars or 1200 dollars.
and other companies are putting out the same product or better for less.
They should make a usa select series 7 strings for those that want them,
and midline they should just do the MG series in 7's.
something like a WRMG 7 or SLSMG 7 or DKMG 7's they would be off the charts and in the appropriate price range - man seems like a no brainer.Last edited by Trem; 01-10-2010, 03:25 PM.

I don't think a ton of people are saying they shouldn't introduce imports. The issue is that they're not doing anything interesting with the USA line. I also don't understand why you have to make this about the US economy.Dreaded Silence - Boston Melancholic Metal
