  • Grover Jackson at NAMM

I met and talked to Grover Jackson today for the first time. I've seem him at NAMM before, but never had the guts to approach him. I wasn't sure if he would be fan friendly or not. But I have to say... WOW, what a terrific guy! I went to the booth for his new guitar company and just asked if I could get a picture with him. He was more than happy to take a pic and he even held one of his new guitars. That would have been enough for me, but then he went on to talk with me for a few minutes. He wanted to know all about my first Jackson guitar, like where I bought it, what year, the exact guitar's specs, etc. I told him all about it and then he asked if I still had it and I felt a little bad saying that I had sold it. However, he understood. He asked about my current guitars so I showed him my cd cover to show him my dinky/soloist shaped guitar that I had made (not a Charvel/Jackson). I said I preferred the Wilkinson trem, and he said "yeah, me too." Then I told him that I use Duncans, the JB and Jazz and he said, "that's the perfect combination" or something like that. We said a few other things and I gushed like a school girl telling him thank you for being such a pioneer.

I just can't get over how friendly, talkative, and interested he was. A super guy for sure.

    UPDATE: Here's the picture.

You certainly caught him at the right time. People tend to be friendly when they have something to sell.

That is awesome man... I wonder if he knows he's a living legend?

I mean the coolest, best, most extreme guitars ever made that spawned insane maniacs to a new level of music are most likely playing a guitar with his name on it!!!

When I first started looking at guitars when I was a kid, everytime I saw a Jackson in a store or in a magazine it was like they were the coolest guitars ever and everybody knows it.

Something about seeing that kick ass pointy head stock with that awesome Jackson logo always gets me... well duh that's why we are here.

      Just awesome man!!!
      Thanks for Sharing!!!

Talked guitar construction with him almost two years ago (well before GJ2) for about an hour and a half. Could not have been more gracious.

              Actually, it's D'oh.

This might be the only chance I ever get at catching RacerX for an improperly placed apostrophe!!!!

              I'm going to savor it.

Grover was super cool. The guitars had insane setups. We talked for a long time and one of his guys recognized my Sully Guitars shirt. More details later. Guitars start at 3k. More models shapes and bridges are coming soon. The guy knows his stuff.

I'm guessing that was Jon Gold; we emailed a bit a few weeks back.

While there are some things about the design that I'd change (mainly just inlays), I'm SUPER fucking stoked that Grover is back and out in the open. That guy is the Leo Fender/Ted McCarty of our generation and gets a fraction of the credit he deserves.

I spoke with him on the telephone before. It was at a music store I worked at giving lessons. He was a nice guy.

I stopped by and talked to him for a few minutes, got a picture and whatnot. I mentioned that I think he is an absolute living legend - I think he appreciated that.
