  • I saw Joel Hoekstra, Brad Gillis, and Brian Tichy at the Hilton after the show. I asked Joel if the guitars on display and being played on stage were Randy's. He said yes, then said he was pretty sure they were. Then said he thought the amps were Randy's too.

I saw backstage pics and their was a Concorde with a Sandoval logo. Dunno if the one on the side of the stage was Jackson or Sandoval. The Les Paul had Randy's mom's signature on it a a few guys played it on stage. The Black V looked like a PCS style V with old school logo and smaller inlays. The guitars were on stands on pedestals with a security guy nearby.

The Marshalls looked older and not brand new. I wish I would've asked Tichy. He was super pumped after the show and was talking about specific song parts and how well most of it went. I totally forgot to ask him specifics about the equipment. A friend of mine knows Gillis…I'll ask him to ask Gillis about the equipment.

Roody…I think tons of my friends were at the show and I had no idea. Would've been great to meet you in person. I was about 3 people from the barricade, almost dead center. Nice pics too!

      • I don't know about the guitars but I bet that's at least his amps! That's so cool! Let me know what you find out for sure. Looks like NAMM produced some cool stuff this year. I'm really interested in the ESP USA series. I've always been an ESP fan but the LTD stuff kinda ran me off. I really like what I saw in their booth as well as the Jacksons and Carvins. Thanks so much for all the pics and reviews guys!

        • I don't think those were Randy's guitars. It was pretty dark in there but I tried to see from a distance through my camera lens what I could. The Black/Gold Rhoads has Seymour Duncan logo'd pickups in it which makes them later production and the pickup selector switch tip looks like a standard Jackson one. Randy's had a mini toggle from the pix I've seen before. The white Les Paul Custom also had some differences. There was a white/cream switch tip on it instead of brass and there was no Randy Rhoads engraved on the pickguard. It also had a Les Paul Custom truss rod cover whereas Randy changed his out to a plain blank one. So I'm thinking those were not his originals. I can't see Mrs. Rhoads letting anyone else play those or risk something happening to his originals but that's just me.
It was a great time though. The place was packed full of Randy Rhoads fans and the guitarists there seemed to genuinely acknowledge Randy's influence on them

+1 She wouldn't let anyone else play them. I read an interview with Mike Shannon about when they made the exact replica that was relic'd and her only stipulation when they were measuring everything on the guitar was that "Nobody would play it." She said her son was the last person to play the white Concorde and she wanted it to stay that way.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

That's what I thought too. I didn't think they'd bring out the originals. It was a great time though, I mean when was the last time anyone played Blizzard Of Oz and Diary Of A Madman in their entirety live? Not one bad song on either of those albums

                      • After studying Rudy's pics I see they're all CS Selects, limited to 10 pieces. And they're natural necks... which I hate. Thomann (Germany) is selling the pinstriped Rhoads soon. I really love that Warrior, I wish it had a gloss black neck :-(

Why not order one as a custom select and specify a painted gloss neck then? I would think they would have no problem building you one.
