  • what about a FR speed loader? i think Hippie Tim had a Gem converted, but i don't recall how he liked it ....

does only FR guitars come stock with it? i thought HT's gem looked cool with the plugs in the headstock.

    • Floyd for me, every time. I wish my '84 Charvel had a Floyd rather than it's useless Kahler!! It lacks Balls!!!

BC Rich issued the NJ series with SL's a couple years ago... I've got the NJ Beast... it's much more of a novelty than a convenience,a s setting it up is a pain in the ass, and tuning it down even to drop d means having to set it up a little more. They sound fine and play fine, they just get too be a pain in the ass. Just get an OFR.

          • 1) Hardtail
            2) Floyd
            3)

Well, there is no #3, i've owned over 200 guitars and only 1 had a Kahler. It was sold almost immediately and I will NEVER, EVER buy a Kahler'ed guitar again.

            • I would love to see the Kalher came back on some models. I don't like to set up the Floyd, but once done it works great. Kalher are more user friendly.

              • I think that people's preference of the Floyd vs. Kahler is directly related to their style of playing.
I have only played a few Kahler's, but it's obvious they are not as 'exact' or they don't have a 'real-time' feel like a Floyd.

I guess it's a good thing to have choices, but I will never invest in a Kahler guitar when I had a Floyd option.

The main reason I like it, is the bar is out of your way when I muffle the higher strings!

                    IMO, a Floyd wins everytime.

                    • It's been quite some time since I played a Kahler.....don't even remember how they feel compared to the Floyd. I do remember the constant tweeking of the fine tuners and the lack of sustain.

                      • I tried a guitar with a kahler - it was interesting the less direct response almost reminded my of my old jazzmaster trem (obviosly the kahler will stay in tune better)

If I had a collection of guitars I would want one with a kahler for the different feel but I prefer the floyd style.

                        • I just had the Kahler on my Model 6 setup a couple weeks ago and have been able to use it for the first time in 15 years. And I remember now why I like them so much - it stays in tune fine, the tuners and bar are out of your way when palm-muting, and the tuners are much more precise than a Floyd (must have a higher ratio). That said, I like having a Floyd-ed guitar too. It's good to have choices and I would like the option of a Kahler on a new (non-CS) Jackson.

                            • floyds prevented me buying jacksons (with tremolo) since i got my first kahler, floyds are no option... and it was awesome to find a kahler on a kv-1
