Now that this thread is up to 7 pages, it might be easier for jcmktguy to get his answer with a poll. Maybe one of the admins can start it and make it easy. Just a simple question: Would you buy a Jackson with a kahler? Yes or No response. Boom, you're done, you have your answer. Just a thought.
I would go with either.
While I have never owned a Khaler trem equipped guitar. I like the Fixed Khaler on my KV PRO & I've played 2 seperated Model 6 Charvels with the Flat mount trem ('86) & liked it fine. In fact I plan to own a Model 6 one day & I am only interested in a Khaler equiped model.
Kahlers are cool because you don't have to block them to detune one string. Setup is easier with a kahler too.....way more adjustable. I personally don't use a lot of trem. I LOVE the Kahler fixed bridge w/fine tuners combined with locking tuners !!!!
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!
Neither now. When I first started back in the 80s I was a Kahler guy. My first real guitar, a Hamer Scarab II, came stock with it. I loved it. A couple years later, I bought my first Jackson (USA). It was around '88 and they were already putting those Jackson trems on their guitars, so I had it taken off and put a flat mount Kahler on it. A few years later, I bought another cheaper Jackson, and swaped the lic. Floyd for a Kahler. Eventually though, I took the Kahlers off of both and put a fixed bridge. No more whammies for me unless it's a traditional style.
