I have a V16 and love it to death!
Now the new models look even better and the V18 is wider so I guess they fixed the heat issue. forget those overpriced boogies. get one of these all your pedals sound great. I have digitech badmonkey, rocktron zombie distortion and a big muff PI running with the single channel V16. I can get any kind of gain I want.

Forget my mesa and get a crate? That will never happen. Those look pretty cool though.

I know, its off topic... but how's the Rocktron Zombie? I've been looking into one for a while. Is it as heavy as people make it sound?

I love it! especially at the price of 35.
pro: cheap. it has a unique knob that adjusts the symmetry of the distorion. so you can can go from a marshall like fast and punchy distortion to boogie like smooth and singing distortion at the turn of a knob. but it works better with some amps than others. I tried a class a/b fender amp in the store and it was so so. when I tried it with my crate v16 single ended it worked just like I described. I contacted rocktron customer service and they told me it made sense because of the push-pull type tube config has its own symmetry character.

cons: eats battery. and when battery is low it doesn't turn off!
by pass mode takes too much volume. but tone is ok.

wouldn't you just turn down the volume on the pedal then?

i owned a crate gs 160 the only good thing about it was the ev speaker. the damn thing would cut in and out. my friend who had the 150 watt version before crate switched to the gs160 had the same thing happen the volume cut in and out. i think when he had his checked out, found out the the inputs/outputs were soldered on by blind morons. my friend had his amp fixed i traded mine along with a laney 4x12 speaker cabint back in 93 i believe for an new ada mp1 preamp and footcontroller with the phantom cable.
