It's the nicest Mustaine Dean yet IMO. But the headstock is still a deal breaker for me.
Yep, the headstock does not match the overall flow of the guitar's body. Also, those inlays suck hard! Since they went with the RIP theme, they should have used the radiation symbol as fret markers. After all, it wouldn't look any dumber than that fuckin 8 ball.
Welllllllllllllllll..........................FMIC would. Jackson had all its teeth pulled.
What are you talking about? Suing because of the headstock would have nothing to do with FMIC. Remember when ESP and Carvin used similar headstock shapes in the '80s?
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
guys i have to admit the headstock was the only thing that put me off the guitar but it wore on me and i ended up buying the angel off deth and its a killer guitar, i dont think it would be anywhare neer as good as a PRO or a KV1 , i had a KV2 which felt beter to play but somewhat lacking as obviusly it had a floyd.
one thing i dont realy like is that its incredibly light. maybe even lighter than an SG

Ageed, I was at a music store yesterday, and picked one up..
Dave played this guitar (rust in peace graphic) in London on Saturday just gone (supporting Judas Preist). Megadeth were awesome (dare I say it, outplayed priest thi snight..
I played one at guitar center when they first came out and also noticed how light they were. Aren't they suppose to be mahogany, then how are they so light.
i was at the dean factory outlet store the other day. i played DOZENS of deans with various finish blems or other "injuries". i wasn't really inpressed. and the DMVNT i played felt like a cheap piece of shit. when i tapped on the body, it echoed....
the only cool thing i found in there was a USA michael schenker V for a steal of a price. i MAY go back and get it..not sure though as i already have a V.
a lot of the "graphics" looked SUPER crappy....kinda like those "monsters of rock" kramers back in the 80's.....the guitars looked like they were dipped in paint not actually painted. there were NO runs in the paint, but the guitar looked "coated" if that makes any sense....
I'm starting to think that they found a way to "inkjet" right onto the guitar.
It could explain what you saw.
Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day, set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Probably a lower grade of mahogany. Not all mahogany is the same.

He doesn't. He likes all his tuners inline, on one side of the headstock.
Not only that, (remember he did stray and go 3+3 on the Y2KV and Axxion) but I remember him saying something to the effect of Dean V headstock shape was stupid and hideous looking. I'm sure there were more colorful metafores like "looks like ass" or something like that.... but I know he said something of the sort before he signed the ESP deal.
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!
Yeah, the Y2KV was a sweet guitar, and I was surprised he did have the 3+3 head on it. Dean's headstock I also remember him saying he hated. And that Axxion thing was really hideous... I don't know what he was thinking when creating that guitar.

The whole bit about inline tuners is kinda funny.
Like Dave tunes his guitars. He's too busy throwing them at techs when something doesn't fit his liking.
