The Dean headstock makes it hard for me to get one. Now the KV or DV8 on the other hand.
I agree with you 101%. I bought a VMNT1 a while back and although it wasn't a bad guitar (more on that later. Going to see a movie with my girlfriend right now but will come back and go into more detail), I NEVER got used to that headstock. First off, it's huge. Second of all, it's hideous LOL. They should have went with the Jackson style headstock someone posted earlier.
The only thing I hate about his new Deans, besides the fact they're Deans, is the inlays. I can't get past them. They're disgusting. And the bevel kind of things how they end at the neck pup is weird.
I don't mind the bevels so much, but I'm with you on the inlays. I actually OWNED one and never really got used to them. Looks like someone couldn't decide on dots or sharks and just said fuck it put them all on :ROTF: The fretboard just looks... well... busy.
And that HEADSTOCK?!?! Dean has the worst looking headstocks in the business. This is no exception.
Dave, quit screwing around with Dean, come back to Jackson where you belong, and give us the opportunity to own a new neck-thru fixed bridge King V Dean, the man, is gone anyway right? Didn't he bail on the company or something? There's no reason to stick around, so come back to Jackson dammit!
Not even sharkfins, like a barracude fin or soemthing
And holy crap I didn't even notice that :|
Also why when he went to ESP, did he start using TOM;s?
If I recall correctly, he considered the Kahlers he used before that were "tone sucking" bridges. You never know with Dave. When he has it, he loves it, but when he gets a new endorsement the old stuff is all of the sudden crap LOL

Yup lmao, which is why I'm wondering if he's sincere about the Deans...
I can't believe I'm the first one to say this, but:
A "Rust In Peace" graphic on a Dean? When everyone in the world knows Dave was playing Jacksons when he did that classic album?
It's just stupid.
It's like Angus Young suddenly switching to Dean and having a signature model with the "Powerage" or "Highway To Hell" graphic on there. Stupid.
I have nothing against Dean, or Dave doing whatever the fuck he wants, I love the latest album. But come on, RIP was a Jackson album, Dave and Marty are both synonymous with the brand at that period, it was a seminal album. What the FUCK does it have to do with Dean?
My 10 yr old son is a huge Megadeth fan so he wanted to trade his RG370 i bought him for his birthday a year ago for the United Aboination grafic VMNT. I figured it would have been a downgrade in terms of quality(indonesian to chinese) but we was able to sell his RG, buy a vmnt and have money to spare. The first VMNT they sent him was crap. It had a huge chip off the horn, neck wasn't seated in the neck pocket and it had finish cracks in the neck pocket. So we sent it back and the next one they sent played and sounds pretty decent. I like it a lot better than his RG370 and he sure does as well. The neck feels a lot slimmer than the Wizard 2 and he doesn't throw this one out of tune when he attempts to palm mute.

Any guitar that goes out of tune when palm muting needs a setup.
Most of these cheaper guitars would be fine if people set them up correctly. It doesn't cost much if you can't do it yourself and it's worth its weight in gold (not the best metaphor, but you get the point).
