Most of these cheaper guitars would be fine if people set them up correctly. It doesn't cost much if you can't do it yourself and it's worth its weight in gold (not the best metaphor, but you get the point).
Not a problem with the guitar but rather the way he played it. He is a beginner and rested his hand a bit heavily on the bridge and pushed back on the trem. Thanks for trying to help though.

I thought the Dean looked cool until I saw this KV1T (CLICKY CLICKY) today on eBay. Even side by side... Jackson wins. Sorry Dean, but it just does.

It had a huge chip off the horn, neck wasn't seated in the neck pocket and it had finish cracks in the neck pocket. So we sent it back and the next one they sent played and sounds pretty decent. I like it a lot better than his RG370 and he sure does as well. The neck feels a lot slimmer than the Wizard 2 and he doesn't throw this one out of tune when he attempts to palm mute.
well that's the VMNT-X the budget model.. not the VMNT1

I once worked out a possible real reason for binding, like tonally, but that may be wrong. But why is binding there other than asthetics? I LOVE how it looks, but there has got to be another reason because of the existence of black binding. You can't see it, so whys it there?
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

One reason I can think of is that you can't tell how thin the ebony board is.

I can imagine Dean want's to get (ring) all the money they can out of this endorsement deal with Dave. I saw the RIP graphics on a cheap model V the other day, meh, looked cooler on a t-shirt. I'm not real big on busy looking graphics on a guitar anyway, just my opinion. Don't get me started on the Jenna Jameson Jacksons.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

It's also a cleaner look. You don't see the tang if you're looking at the side of the board. Some builders offer "blind binding" for this purpose. They use the same wood as the fret board and bind it. Really clean look.

I also believe since varying temperatures cause the wood to expand and contract that on guitars without binding you're more likely to have edges of the fret (tang specifically) start poking out if the wood contracts too much. My custom ESP Explorer had this issue. No binding and the little tang section of the fret started to poke out and pushed the clear coat up at the edge of the fret board in a few places.

I'd rather go with some tits on my guitar than an album cover, there's more for the crowd to look at to.
