The preamops were designed to improve on the headroom and dynamic range alreeady at 9v, and are a balanced design as opposed to EMGs unbalanced design. The main downside of their design is that running at 18V now actually DOES what all the n00bs claimed that 18v EMGs do, it significantly raises the output. As in "I don´t need no fucking cleans" significant.
