i'm rewiring the kelly and it doesn't have the the grounding eyes and wires in the pickup cavities. are these nessasary or extra insurance, and do they work if they do not have grounding paint under them. any advice is welcome. second, is there anything wrong with putting a bridge pickup(sh-5 s.d.) in the neck position, they dont make it in a neck version and i wanted a lesser hot pickup than the tb-6 thats going in the bridge. thanks

When you see the grounding eye & wire in the cavities, that's the ground for the shielding paint. It's nice to have, and it helps keep things quiet, but quite a few guitars don't have it, and it's not critical.
Bridge versions of pickups can work fine in the neck position. People do it all the time. The key is that it balances well with the pickup you have in the bridge. I've personally never used anything as hot as a Custom in the neck, but it might work for you. Go ahead & try it out.Comment
