    Which would you buy? Why?
I'm undecided now, after making a deal that just fell apart.

Bridge or neck? What guitar is/are it/they going in?
    Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

Haven't heard the '59, but I like the Jazz in the neck position of my Kelly. Real clean, smooth sound. Going by Duncan's tone chart, they seem very similar, with the '59 being a little darker.

        Because every guitar is different.

That sounds like a good thing, because there's at least a 50% chance you made the wrong decision.

it really depends on the guitar its going in. i found the 59 to be a little brighter than the Jazz. both are great pickups.

I like both the '59 and the Jazz in the neck position, and I agree that the '59 is a bit brighter. I just bought one for the bridge position but haven't tried it yet. Normally, I prefer the Custom or Distortion in that position. Good bite, well-defined tone, and sufficient gain to do legato stuff on both those pickups. I've been especially pleased with the Custom in a mahogany guitar.

Oops, didn't see you were asking specifically about the '59 and Jazz pickups. Early in the morning here and I've only had one cup of coffee
