IMO, the Ping is much better. The Floyd Rose Special is also a better cheap option than that GFS:

If you don't want to pay for an OFR, then go with the Ping, FR Special or Korean Floyd if you can find one. I'm not a real heavy trem user--I've used all 3 and not had any issues with any of them. However, if you are a heavy trem user, I would suggest saving and getting the OFR or Schaller as they tend to be harder steel and will hold up better over the long run. Please do let us know if Ping makes the GFS model...they don't look the same, but you never know.

Well, according to the "here" link page, the part number for the black model is the part number cited on the Jackson page as the model on the current Pro series.

Incidentally, I was looking at the GFS site and think I may buy one of the RR style bodies they have and buying a 90s pro neck off ebay and puttin something together. For $50 a body is a body and who cares what wood its made out of or the quality of the finish, its $50. The neck they have looks cool too but I dont know about a $50 neck, but then hey, its $50 so maybe Ill try it.

Which model? Looked like they are all JT580 licensed except the Demmelition and Soloist which are FRT-O2000, but not any FRT-S2000. The "O" is for Original and the "S" is for Special, if I understand correctly.

And as far as the GFS bodies are concerned, I've considered them as well...for $50 finished, it is a great deal and for a beater guitar you can do A LOT with your money. I understand what you're saying here, but taken out of context, I can see some guys on here tearing you a new one for your "who cares what wood it's made of" statement!

I think their bodies accept 2 3/16 necks, so they won't accept a Jackson neck without modification.

Makes sense, I noticed the S & O difference and didnt think of it that way. I know bout the wood but hopefully its obvious enough that I meant for $50 it could be plywood but who cares cause its $50. Id like it be alder but bass wood isnt the worst. Well maybe Ill give the neck of theirs a shot then, theres just much more intricacy in a neck though that $50 does kinda make me think = total crap. With a body, you dont have much to loose other than its tonal properties and sustain but a neck, man thats really the heart and soul of the beast. Proper action, good intonation longevity of the build of the neck just seem like thinks you probly wont get of good quality for $50.

spend the money and get a Gotoh Trem. you'll be happier in the long run.
