Is binding on the neck and headstock intrusive? Are the neck and headstock routed to accept the binding? Has anyone ever had this done after market and how much did you pay to have it done?

No, you shouldn't even feel the transition.
Yes, theres a shelf rabbetted into the side if the fretboard, and it's sanded flush.
I tried on a cheapy, it turned out OK, I learned a few things. I can't even begin to guess what it would cost. It would require a lot of skill, time, patience, refinishing the neck(at least the clear coat), and a full refret. All of which adds up to very expensive, my advice sell what you've got and buy something that already bound. It'll be cheaper and quicker.

I asked the same question to luthier and he said that it would be possible but it would require exactly what etepbbb said: refret and refinish. It would cost me around 150EUR.Jackson Soloist SL1
