    Thanks,

No they are not exactly the same. Saddles are in different positions relative to the post, and locking nuts on a Floyd stick out further.

      Quality wise, I'd take either.

Tone wise, some say the Schaller is warmer, the Floyd has more of an edge.

DonP, he's referring to the Schaller Floyd Rose. Not the OFR.

          Shit! You are correct.

JT-590 is exactly the same as the Schaller.

So is the JT580LP and the FR Pro identical too?

No. A FR Pro has different dimensions and string spacing.

So the 580 is just loosely based off the Pro, is there an identical Schaller to the 580?

The Schaller would be a 590. They made nothing identical to a 580.
There was a regular Jackson JT580 with long locking bolts before the JT580LP, then a '94 JT580LP with a squared baseplate like an OFR.

Just a thought, Im sure you could find all this info through the search function, but maybe there should be a drop in replacement chart that gets stickied. I understand that it is a crap shoot sometimes but a sticky could put an end to this reoccurring topic. Also, my 580LP and JT6 are reliable as well, but Ive often considered upgrading just because.

Twitch, the Tremolo Info Project should at least answer some of the questions. The page tries to answer which tremolos can be swapped for an OFR and also different things to look out for. A nice chart it is not (yet), I'm afraid, because swapping is sometimes complex. I'm not trying to promote my own site, but it's the only Jackson / Charvel related tremolo comparison I've seen, apart from the info spread out here on JCF.

I was wondering about this myself. My JT-590 is rusted and the string blocks keep falling out.

I still want one of these. My local store can't get them. Are they exclusive to USA?
