I have a '92 soloist and I am having trouble finding the correct pots. I have replaced all three (25K volume, 250k tone and 50k mid-boost) My guitar now sounds really muddy! Does anyone know which one(s) need to be audio or linear?

Volume pot on most of the guitars with the midboost was 50k audio from the factory. Tone was 250k audio, boost level pot was 50k linear. I'm not sure how much of an effect going to 50k for the volume pot would have in the case of an active circuit like this. In passive setups, a higher value pot usually brightens things up, so it might help some. Other than that, are you pretty sure everything else is OK with the circuit and the boost is working? Battery fresh? -
Yes, everything else is good. I put the old pots back in and it sounds great, just makes lots of crackling noises. I used a 50k audio pot for the mid-boost, that's probably where the problem is.Comment
