WRMG Componants

Hey all,

I finally picked up my first jackson guitar, a WRMG in Trans-black. Decided to join the forums here accordingly, and i've already got a question:

Does anyone here know the componant serial numbers used in the WRMG's electronics? I'm looking for an extra audio pot specifically. I'm looking to pop in a second volume control in so each pickup can be set independantly. I know I need a 25k pot, but they're non-existant where I live (Winnipeg, Canada). I'll post some pics of my new baby asap.

Actually what you're looking for are the component model numbers, not serial numbers.

And you're not even looking for that - you're looking for a source to find 25k pots.

You might want the Long Shaft, since the regular ones might only be tall enough to go through a Strat pickguard, which is thinner than your guitar's top.

Unless there's something odd about the WRMG, a short shaft pot will be fine. I've only ever used long-shafts in archtops / LPs.

The guitar's not a USA guitar though, so the moderators might move this thread..

Yeah, but to Canadians, they're all Imports

Mine are the old HZ-equipped models, so they had regular pots. They might be routed deep enough for the short shafts, I'd hafta check, but I bought some pots a while back that will only mount on pickguards because they're like 1/4" tall.

yeah, mine definitely needs the long-shaft one's. That's what the existing ones in there are at the moment. I'll probably wind up waiting for one from EMG. Thanks for the quick responses all!

...Here's another newbie question, what's the difference between a USA made guitar and an import? (where its made, duh...) what I mean is, how do I tell the difference? I'd thought my axe had been built in the US.

The WRMG is made in Japan. The USA models would say Made In USA on the headstock.

The USA Warrior is neckthru. Better components, better woods, handcrafted. Nuff said.

"Handcrafted" to the extent of being machined (bandsaws, powered hand-tools, etc). The Japanese-made models aren't done by robots.

I saw Godin's setup on How It's Made - they've got some nice automation. Clamp the neck/board into a vise and all the fret slots are cut at once with a multiblade rig. Frets are installed and then clamped in another jig and flipped onto another cutter that grinds the ends off even with the board all at once.

Haven't heard too many complaints about their guitars.
Nice low prices, too.
