    Yes! I can't stand those. I had an ESP FR-II, which came stock with EMG pickups. I switched over to passives, but it never seemed right because of that blasted battery box. Such a waste. I mean how hard is it to have to unscrew a cavity cover every 6 to 18 months or whatever to swap out a battery.

      My thought, exactly.

      I find these to be a COMPLETE waste of wood. Even worse that some guitars come stock with the 18v mod... TWO BOXES.
