I don't do it for two reasons:

    1) I don't like the fact that the wound ends need to bend around the post

    2) I would rather pull a certain amount of string through the post to get the amount of wraps to be the same (or close)

I couldn't go across to this method as I like to leave my strings uncut at the headstock, cos as we all know it gives added sustain..as well as looking bad ass ....

yes, that is most definately true. its the most inexpensive way to install blues rock chatter on guitars, see cuz you already paid for the strings, so they are in a sense, free. but most people just cut them off and throw them away not even realizing their full potential.

I used to do that, but using a guitar with a bar-style retainer (Strat-head) broke me of the habit quick. Never had any issues with it or messing up the tuners though.

Guilty! 20+ years, no probs with tuners either. I like the aesthetics.

To me it just makes sense. people can call me weird or retarded all they want ( I am used to it. ) and I just think it makes total sense. I cant see any disadvantages to it at all.

I answered yes. I thought I was the only weirdo. I started doing it because while trimming tails once I managed to clip one of the strings at the same time. Felt like an idiot, so I changed the way I did it.

Added advantage is not having to put sharp wire cutters in the area
of the famously glossy headstock face.
Stick the ball end in, and be done with it.

    No scratches!
