OP- Get what you want, change it how you feel, if you don't like it, change it again, or get something else. Learn what you like. Thats how everyone finds "their" gear. No one can tell you whats going to be right for you. Just try everything you can. Good luck
hard to try everything you can when you drop 8k on gear for your first trial. hence our suggestions lol

BTW my parents didn't buy me gear one, just like Sausage. And you guys mentioned EVH, my family knew his fam growing up, I'll have to ask my Mom if Jan bought any of Eddie & Alex's gear (Alex was the drummer in my Mom's band back in the day). I remember their house in Pasadena, it was TINY! and in '79 one of the VH brothers was driving a Ford Pinto, the other an old Peugeot!

Suggetions are fine, and what the OP wanted. Do you call what you were doing "suggesting"? Just curious.

I'll have time for shredding coz Dad says I'll be good if I just attend the lectures in colege (He's a doctor too) And no, I've studied a lot, have lots of examples (Dave being the best one) that cocaine or heroin addiction's not gonna get me anywhere.... I'd better be addicted to caffeine, its a stimuant too, found in coffee, coke etc. I probably am a caffeine addict already, its much cheaper, less addicting and tasty

No, I have a younger brother, and they are already fed up of me, but love me too.... So NO !!!!

Play wat stock, KV1, obviously....... But I'll order a JB/Jazz set in advance in case I need it.....
And If I get a Mustaine V, I'll not sell it, so why worry ????

And as a jesus look-alike honors engineering student I can ASSURE you, you won't have sufficient practice time if you care at all about school. And $8000 for gear? Definitely loaded compared to me. My parents spent about $1000 total on my gear in my 7 years of playing. And I don't have some of that gear today. Just get through school with decent gear, like anything. You cant play loud in college. Save your parents some cash, as the value of a dollar must be pretty irrelevant to you. If you find $8000 in gear necessary once you graduate buy it yourself. And EVHs 'awesome' marshall was a stock 68, which werent exactly that expensive in the 70s. He still likely worked his ass off for the less than 2000 in gear he had by VH1.
So wat if I cant play loud in college ??? I have my own house where I can play quite loud
I've just got through school. and the gear i have now is just bad, it sucks, a, $80 guitar with a very fat neck, and its most likely be a poplar body, and it doesnt seem heavy at all, $50 fx pedal, and a $40 amp, 15 watt

obviously, I'll keep the original stuff, restore the guitar to its original condition and then put it up for selling, It would be foolish to just throw the original pups...... And I've got a $80 guitar, and internet to practice wiring hehe

I beg ya yash, get a reasonable setup. Play it, love it and focus on school if you're indeed working so hard to get in (it will kick your ass, guaranteed). Learn what you like in a guitar, not with a $5000 price tag, then move forward.

I mean, I may have missed it, but how long have you even been playing? What kinds of guitars have you played? Why this one, aside from the Mustaine influence?

Edit: Okay, you've said for a year and not very seriously. What kinds of guitars though?
Yes I am dangerous :p ..... I'll get a good setup.... and I've posted about school, studies and college, wont post that again, read it, I've just owned 1 guitar my life, I think its just waste of money if you buy bad gear, coz u'll end up replacing it

I sold them when I bought the Ibanez though. The guy I sold them to beat the guitar to shit and actually cracked the housings and broke the windings. Bill doesn't make that color scheme anymore either :/. Really though, get a decent guitar. Learn to set it up. Get a decent amp. Learn how to get good tone, not just with the gear, but with your hands/technique. I used to play with so much gain to get a nice crunch until I learned to beat the hell out of the strings and really dig in to get that aggressive sound. This also taught me that 10-46 sets break really easy with aggressive playing
yeah, i just broke my high E string, thanks to me acting to play like mustaine...... the notes werent dead on, but the agressin was there

                            • No worries dude. I think we're all just trying to be supportive, it's just...well, some of us are pricks with hearts of gold. I know I am. ;p

As for your comment about the Mustaine V and reselling, you mean the custom shop guitar? Of course you could do that, but honestly you won't get the same amount you put into it back. I think that's what we're trying to spare you here, it's what I'm doing at least. If you mean the KV1, then sure. Just look for a good deal. Lots of eBay listings are inflated horribly. Beware of anything "rare."

As for my gear being sold ages ago, no worries dude. My parents, out of want to right things with me many months later, gave me a pawn shop ticket for a guitar of theirs that they never played and I absolutely loved. They said if I paid to get it out, it was mine and signed it over to me. And that guitar was my Charvel Model 4, which started my love of the brand. True story. So, I've got no regrets.

As for the Line 6 comments...eh, I still think their effects are alright. I'm curious to hear the HD500 myself. Doesn't replace a good tube amp of course, but modelers can still be fun to play with.

In any case, welcome to the family. Whether you go with a custom shop order or a used KV1 or a cheaper X series...they're great guitars and it's an addiction that you won't shake any time soon.

                              • I think the best deal would be to go with KV1
If not, KVXT, mod on it, I'll try and make it my 'Frankenstrat' and then CS
By the way, on a side note, I LOVE SOLOISTS !!!
Once I know wat i like and wat not, I'll get a CS soloist with flames finish and flames inlays...
the CS will do it, right ???
