Anyone ever had a pickup model that didn't get along with your amp?

Marshall JCM2000 series TSL100.

Not sure if it is considered a high gain amp, but it blows my mind that switching from a JB to a Distortion would make such a huge difference.

I wish I had played the first Distortion at high volumes before buying the second one

TSLs are definitely high gain amps. Nile uses DSLs with no boosts and their tone is very heavy

I always thought they were, but I saw someone comment in a thread here that they didn't consider them a high gain amp. :dunno:
