Chrome pick up covers

Will any Gibson style pick up covers fit my sl2 jb/59 pick ups

No. It will depend on whether they are trembuckers or not (is the JB a TB-4 or SH-4?) The 59 will likely be an SH-1N so should be okay with Gibson covers (NOT Epiphone or other import).

This is the problem - some Gibson covers will be regular spaced, some will not. Some Duncans will be the same. Finding covers to fit can be a bit hit and miss.

Measure the pole spacing and buy accordingly. Most companies have measurements for that kind of thing

Seymour Duncan sells pickup covers. Save yourself a headache and just get those.

Yep, although sometimes you can put them on and get squealing and shit. I would probably just sell the uncovered pickups and buy a covered set.

The squealing is caused by improper installation. You want to drip some wax on top of the bobbins as an insullator first. Then carefully clamp the cover on. Then solder while the cover is clamped on.

I've not actually done this myself (never needed to), but I've read enough on LP forums as to know the right and wrong way of doing it.

Yeah I know how to do it, and I've done it myself successfully. But I've read plenty on forums where people haven't done it right. For the cost of buying covers, it just seems better to me to buy pups with covers already on, and sell the uncovered ones. It should cost about the same, less even if you can sort out good deals.

Sounds easier to buy the covered p/u's. Less chance for an error
