Different way to block a floyd!

I'd worry about rattle when the trem is floating, but he said that there really isn't any...

Blockage

Laugh if you want but it probably works just fine.

Several of Robbin Crosby's Jacksons had a simple wood scrap/block that were wood-glued inside the trem rout to stop the Floyd from moving in the event of a live-show-setting string break....that's right a simple wood scrap.

No pull up of course..... but then again a very practical trade off for the live musician.

I had a 1cm square strip of rosewood that blocked the trem on my model 5 for YEARS. I would just tack it in with a light bit of wood glue and if I needed to go floating for any reason I could just pop it out with a screwdriver tap.

Dive only is good enough for me most times and I way prefer tuning it to standard pitch over trying to get a floating floyd bang on. That shit will make you old before your time unless you are a lone guitarist and make the bass player tune to you.

there was a discussion about this on another forum. apparently it doesn't rattle--the pressure from the trem block keeps it tight. a couple of guys have tried that in the other forum...

I'd be concerned about rattle when it is unlocked, with no pressure on the bolt.
And forget about using more than two springs (I typically use three or four) as
you wouldn't be able to reach the lever.

I am tempted to try tis on a cheap guitar though.

But, If a simple wood scrap at .01 cent works...why bother spending many $ on something over-engineered for the job?
