NotP,
That first diagram is of an Edge Lo-Pro, not an original Edge. Both are great though. I would have either of them over an OFR, Schaller or Gotoh. They always feel like they're under less tension and "wangier" ( ). Gotohs are a close second TBH.
I've never played the newer Edge Zero models though but I hated the ZR they bought out with the roller posts instead of the pivot posts. Blah! Felt like crap.
Only criticism of Edges I can think of is that the metal that the saddles and base plate are made out of are pretty soft and if you have nasty sweat like I do, you can eat into them pretty quick. I bubbled the chrome on my first JEM within 6 weeks (and I cleaned it every night), got a replacement sent to me under warranty and my sweat did exactly the same thing to it.
Good thing is that you can pick up an original Edge from eBay that came from the Indonesian factory pretty cheaply and fairly regularly. I got a chrome one for around $US150 a year or so ago and it was brand new, with the posts and lock nut. It's chrome doesn't match the cosmo black on the guitar but who cares?
The pop in arms rule too! Hence replacing my OFR arms with the new pop in ones!
