I've come to really dislike locking trems...

For any application that I would need a trem for a standard ...be it two point or six screw trem..does just fine. the tuning stability holds well enough because I don't muck about with trem acrobatics.

If it weren't for the KILLER necks on my Model series Charvels, I would consider dumping these and doubt I'd have any remorse doing so.

Guitars with locking trems just take too much time to set up compared to the alternative, are a serious PITA when a string breaks, and just don't do it for me anymore.

Anyone want to buy a 5FX and a 1986 Model 3 package deal

Locking trems are easy to work on so I don't have an issue with them.

I love them. My first guitar had a Floyd. For several years I got into non-locking trems and hardtails. In recent years I've gravitated back to locking trems. Yeah, they are a bit of a pain to setup, but after choosing the strings & tuning I want, the setup is pretty much a one time deal. As far as string breakage, it is rare, but at gigs I bring a backup. All is good. Locking trems rule.

Locking trems are easy to work on so I don't have an issue with them.

Even if I never used a trem, I would still have a Gotoh or OFR for the fine tuners. I rarely lock my trems these days... only when gigging and I don't really do that anymore... not even in a band.

As for your dislike of trems, you're talking about two guitars with the horrible JT6. They're alright when they're new, but pretty much suck in every regard when you're comparing them to an OFR.

Nah neither of them have a JT-6. The Model 3 has a Kahler 2700 (killer) which I like BETTER than an OFR and the 5 FX has a Schaller made Charvel branded JT-590 that came off of a now defunct 475 DLX.

I am thinking of just blocking them...but I haven't got to that point yet...I LIKE using a tremolo..I just DONT like using ...scratch that ..I dont like the time it takes to get the dble lockers set up.

my favorite trem guitar - which is also my favorite guitar - is a jt6

I stopped using locking trems for a long time until I install FU Tone trem stoppers in all my OFR equipped guitars. When the bridge can only go down they are infinitely easier to setup and maintain. Add the The Key intonation tool to the mixed you're golden. I'm so happy with this set that my last build and my next three will all have locking trems.
