Team,
I have a Marshall JVM410HJS 100 watt head that has crapped out on me. I have owned it for less than a year and it never sounded right but it was fully functional. I got it from Musician's friend as a restock (first flag) and failed for some reason (probably money) to get the gold coverage they offer (2nd flag). So, here I am in Okinawa Japan with no certified service available and perhaps a very long wait at a non-certified shop to get this beast diagnosed and repaired. So here is the question...do you know of a shop I can send it to in the states that can troubleshoot this brick and bring it back to life? I have looked for Marshall USA Service Centers online with not too good results. I found an e-mail for one but no response after over a week of waiting (The heads are supposed to be under warranty for defects for 5 years) so I was hoping to no avail that they would respond back to take a look at it.
other info...
1) yes it was retubed and biased to try and get a decent tone (EL 34s) but still sounded crappy
2) tubes still seem to be good but clean and crunch channels are completely out
3) OD1/OD2 on green/red etc...work but there is alot of popping and static/hiss (still sounds like crap too)
4) The amp is unmodded and all switching functions work correctly or at least the LEDs light up like they are supposed to to include using the footswitch.
5) I have about 10 hours total on this amp in a bedroom setting (never gigged) at low to medium volumes (but I rock hard! lol)
6) I have never jacked into the wrong OHMs port for the cab and consistently run a 16 OHM Marshall 1960A
7) Although I sometimes wish it had been, it has never been hit by lightning!
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and assistance in finding a reasonable place to get this thing repaired.
