J-50BC w/midboost more gain than J80c without?

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me with the following question:

1. Would a J-50BC bridge humbucker using the full (max setting) of the je1200 mid-boost have as much or more gain/volume than a J80c bridge humbucker used without the je1200 system?

The JE1200 mid-boost is not a gain circuit. It's actually the mid-sweep circuit, as it generally has a knob that controls the frequency as which it operates, sort of like a wah mounted on the guitar.

The JE1000 was the Gain Boost for guitar, and IIRC it had 20 dB of gain boost, so it would make a J50BC slightly louder than a J80C without the boost. I'm not sure of the JE1000 was a "clean boost" as defined by today's standards, so the interaction with the front of your amp or pedal chain may not be to your liking.

I thought the JE-1200 did boost signal, agreed the mid range was the most affected (depending on sweep knob position). I agree that the JE-1000 was the supposed actual gain boost circuit, but I thought all 4 (1000, 1200, 1500 & 2000) had some level of signal boost.

I'm pretty sure the je1200 is a fixed frequency boost, 650 hz and the knob adjusts the boost from 0 to 6 decibels. As such it will increase overall volume if maxed and will help drive a tube amp. Not sure if that will surpass the volume of a j80c without the boost.

You're right, I'm thinking of the JE1500 mid-sweep. The 1000 had the variable gain, the 1200 was the fixed gain (adjustable with a mini-pot on the board). My bad, carry on

At 6dB of boost, the 50 will probably match the 80 in terms of output level, may 1dB more, but it'll be a "juiced-up" signal. As a comparison, the EMG HZ3 (passive) had the same volume level as any other EMG I've had - 89, 85, 81 - but the AfterBurner boosted that pickup's output, or at least the signal as it came from the pickup to the jack, and resulted in a minorly-noticeable increase in volume, yet gave it a more saturated tone overall.

High gain does not equal good tone sometimes.
Medium out put pick ups sound better to me and if you want more gain crank the amps gain up.
