There was a theory that unbound necks typically came with R4's and bound necks came with R3's. I'm not sure if that is actually true or not. It doesn't really matter, I always go with R3's to get slightly better fret margin._________________________________________________

Well, I'm asking for a 1985 bolt-on San Dimas Charvel pointy. There is a small difference in string spacing but the main difference is 1 has a 10" radius and one has a 12" radius.Comment

Oh yeah that too. It seems like the R3 12" radius is a better fit on the vast majority of J/C necks. I'd just measure the neck at the first fret with a radius gauge if you are worried about it._________________________________________________
