Why would anyone waste a perfectly good set of EMG's on wood?

Same here! I already have EMGs in my Les Paul... but it's only a Studio model. Chrome 25th anniversary 81 in the neck and black 85 in the bridge.

The Chinese clones that come in the clone guitars are cosmetically IDENTICAL to real name brand EMG's. They even have the same quick connect wiring style. The cloned Duncans are easier to spot without plugging them in.

Some of these Chinese clone guitars are very well done and only a fanatic can tell them from the real thing on inspection. Where did you buy the guitar? Pics????

I'm not trying to cause you trouble, but I do knowingly own a clone guitar and it looks great (so great that I actually have had to explain to a few people that have been to my house to jam that it is not a USA Custom)....but I did have to change out all the electronics and hardware.

No it's not a clone. It's a legit ESP with COA and everything. I got it from Music Zoo. Here's a pic. Sorry it's the only pic I have of it on my comp and the guitar is at my tech's getting some fret adjustments done. Hopefully that might cure things.

If it came from TMZ than it's 100% legit. Great shop, (got my RR1 from them) and would never sell a clone or bogus parts. Maybe have the pickup swapped just for a test? Or have it checked on a meter to see what's up if the fretwork doesn't help. Sounds like a strange issue to me.

Yes crossing fingers fret issue will resolve. Will keep you posted. Really though it's a minor issue. The guitar sounds great, it was just when I hot that one note that didn't sustain, now it bothers me hahaha. For the past 5 months I didn't even notice!

ESP even has problems. The Seafoam Strathead I bought had a complex, but very minor warp to the neck. It probably developed slowly over a half decade before I bought it. When I got it, it just wasn't consistent over the neck, but it still played ok. Judging by the level of craftsmanship, there is no way it left like that. A fret level couldn't fix it, so I got it Plek'd. Now it's the most amazing neck I've ever played. Not saying that's what's happening with your guitar, just that over times guitars can develop problems that didn't exist when it was new.

Yeah I see what you are saying. I actually got this guitar used to replace another identical one. They were built in 2011 so hope they would have settled in by now. But, things being so dry over here, you never know how they are going to react.

Sad to report we are at a stalemate with the Green Burst. Problem still not resolved and following has been done......
                    - changed battery
                    - adjusted neck
                    - adjusted the action
                    - adjusted pickup height
                    - jigged the guitar and leveled the frets
                    - changed string saddle
                    - changed pickups
                    - changed pots
Anyone got any other suggestions? I called EMG and they didn't have any ideas. I did check with a couple of the guys on the ESP forum with the same guitar. One said no issues. The other said he noticed a problem getting artificial harmonics FWIW, compared to his others.

Just wanted to get back to this and thankfully say the issue is resolved. I don't know exactly what triggered the change since so much stuff changed at ones. Even my tech said he didn't fix the issue but when I got the guitar home and tried, it now sustains properly. I suspect it was an electronics issue but not sure if it was a pickup or pot or which one. Oh well, all good now!

Wow... well at least you got it sorted out.

Very strange, indeed! At least it's better now.
