I'm planning to order a Sully guitar with 3 single coils (Seymour Duncan STK-S4 set). This guitar will be meant for clean sounds only.

When playing Metal I'm a sucker for one hum guitars.

The only ones that I appreciate and actually use that I dare even call a "single coil" is the Dimarzio HS-2 or HS-3.

Now I know that is hum cancelling and not a true by 50's era Fender single coil, but it gives me a very close sound WITHOUT the annoying hum. Heck even Eric Johnson uses them. I have them installed in a few of my Strat's.

Another one that is indeed a true single coil is the ToneRiders 60's pups that come stock in my Squier Classic Vibe Strat. Hot enough to be able to work with and still a true non hum cancelling pup that has garnered quite a following.

As for single coil routes in my various Jackson's, they are all filled with pups like the Dimarzio Chopper or Duncan Lil'59. Does not give me a massive volume drop when switching from the humbucker and still has plenty of strength and tone.

But for other music styles, I have actually grown to like single coils more then humbuckers in the neck (and middle).

This...for metal never but love single-coils for other styles though

I'd like to try the BKP Sinner. It's a true single coil but supposedly hot enough to be paired with hums.

Our hottest true single coils, The Sinner, are based on the ferocious output of the legendary 'über' Sinner bridge with massive bottom end, grinding mids and extreme pick attack.
