I was working on an old Heartfield Talon that wasn't staying in tune when using the floyd (had a Floyd Rose "Pro" on it). After a quick look, the nut had some deep groves in it where the strings lay. Guess at some point someone tried tuning it without loosening the nut caps.
At any rate I pulled it off and as you see it's an R 4/2. I've never seen that before.
Put the calipers on it and it's the same width as an R4 as well as the same string spacing. But the height from the base to where the D & G strings sit is the same as an R2.
I ended up filing the grooves out then shimming the nut a few thousandths.
Anyone ever seen an R 4/2?
