It is kind of the same thing - there is a way that you put them in that they secure themselves, and don't need overly-secured by the pin/block.

I swear, acoustic bridge pins use black magic. As you're stringing up an acoustic guitar, you'd think the increasing string tension would pull up on the bridge pins and unseat them. But no, the pins actually get MORE secure. It's totally counter-intuitive and boggles the mind.
