Ive used em and when set up right they are dead on dropping from E to D..but with a floating trem you need a tremsetter and a rout for the d tuna to fit in when you pull it sharp..I say block the trem and use it ..
If you block the trem (a la Sully's sticky thread in the Tech Q&A sub-forum or using the method mentioned at Jemsite.com), you might as well save yourself the money from the D-Tuna, unclamp the locking nut, and downtune the low E tuner at the headstock. I used the Jemsite.com method of blocking on my RG560 and I could go from standard E to drop-D or even full D tuning easily... it was practically a fixed bridge. I don't do that anymore though... Not true - I still use my trem to do dives, which would be, um, AWFUL for the tuning without the locknut.
For live performance, for people who don't want to carry a lot of guitars, and that don't do pull-ups, they're great. One pull, and you're in drop-D.
Apparently, I'm the target demographic for this piece.

Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.
I should have worded my last reply a little clearer... I thought you guys were blocking the trem so that there's no movement... and if so, THEN you can unlock the locknut and save money from the D-Tuna.
But yeah, if you're still using the trem, gotta use the locknut... I have no arguments with that!
i installed thre drop tuna on my new charvel and i'm still having problems with it. The floyd is locked down flat against the guitar. When i adjust the small screw to tune the Eb after i tuned the Db I am unable to pull the mechanism out for drop Db. I can back the screw out so able to move the mechanism but then i have to adjust it with the fine tuner. I was told that i shouldn't have to adjust the fine tuner. has anyone ever had this problem? Does anybody have some advice?
If I understand the Tremol-no correctly you can lock it in dive-only mode and then tune down. As long as you tuned it back to standard before unlocking the Tremol-no it wouldn't screw up the tuning on your other strings.
