what to use to clean a kahler bridge?

I have a Kahler that is pretty aged, what is a good chemical solution to clean it , or is jewelry cleaner a good place to start? it's gold(brass I'm guessing) and it's really dull and has some build up on it. It functions just fine so i'd like to clean it up

<font color="aqua"> WD40 works nicely for me. Just wipe everything down and don't forget to lightly oil the moving parts. Don't use too much, as it will just atract dirt if you load it up with oil. </font>

I would be sure its all brass before you go trying to clean up the appearance. Kahler did make all brass trems at one point, but most were a brass cam with a chrome plated outside ring that was brass lacquered (transparent gold type of finish). If you clean that finish of, you will have chrome.

I agree with Dave on the WD 40. I if I have a really rusty bridge, I put it inside a large jar and hose it down with WD40 then let it sit a couple of days if it is really crusty. You can see all the rust and dirt flush out into the WD40.

I hate putting any type of oil on my guitar.

Water, a damp rag, and Q tips can go a suprisingly long way.
